Women, helping other women. A project to supply menstrual products to girls and women in Pond Inlet, Nunavut, Canada.

We are here to lend a hand when it comes to dealing with what every woman experiences, our menstrual cycles. We are here to help bring menstrual supplies, that are otherwise very difficult to afford, to women and girls in Pond Inlet, Nunavut, Canada. We all need, or have needed, menstrual products; we all have, or have had, a period. Let’s come together as women to assist others to participate fully in their studies and the life of their community. Let’s help young women remain in the classroom by providing proper supplies and others to continue to be vibrant community members. TAQQIQ, women helping women in the Canadian Arctic.

TAQQIQ translates to “month” and “moon” in Inuktitut (ᑕᖅᑭᖅ)

Even when I don’t have periods, these essentials are a big help and big blessing at the same time for some ladies out there but not all, you are a true Inuk.

I continue to think of the people in Pond Inlet and the other Inuit villages... I hope they can continue to stay virus-free with the Passage opening. I do hope the girls in Pond Inlet will be able to benefit from this program. It would be great to grow it and include more villages. One step at a time!

At one time I had to choose between milk for the kids or tampons for me. I have been fortunate but I really do understand.

I am interested in the project and hopefully I will be able to find other persons who would like to become involved... When I read about the negative result [for COVID-19] in Pond Inlet I was filled with gratitude and became a little emotional reading that they all started singing!
